In-Home Academic Skills Development Tutoring

Our in-home Academic Skills Development Tutoring services are individually designed to meet and exceed the academic and learning behavior goals for each of our students and parents.

A Road to Academic Success – The Tutoring Process

Prior to starting our in-home Academic Skills Development Tutoring services:

  1. All students are assessed in their academic skills as well as learning behavior

  2. Academic and learning goals are set based on assessment results

  3. The Director of Education will seek input from the student's schoolteacher to ensure our program has a direct impact in the classroom

  4. Our Director of Education then designs an individualized curriculum for the Academic Skills Development Tutor to implement

    • Because our services are customized to meet each student's unique needs, we offer great flexibility in curriculum design. We may work only with a student's schoolwork, only with Axia Learning materials, or a combination.

  5. Once the direction is set for achieving a student's goal(s), the Director of Education carefully selects one of the qualified Academic Skills Development Tutors we work with. This process is based on the Academic Skills Development Tutor's:

    • Experience

    • Expertise and training in the particular grade level subject(s) being tutored

    • Experience and performance in implementing the goals set for the student

  6. We ensure that the tutor's style and temperament will provide your student with the optimal dynamics for progress

  7. Each Academic Skills Development Tutor is provided with their student's curriculum and is trained on the specific aspects of implementing it

  8. The Director of Education then introduces the Academic Skills Development Tutor to your family

After our in-home Academic Skills Development Tutoring services have begun:

  1. Both the tutor and the Director of Education track the student's progress through formal reports throughout the Academic Skills Development Tutoring program

  2. The student is reassessed periodically to ensure adequate progress is taking place and to refine the curriculum as needed

  3. Schoolteachers & parents are contacted periodically to ensure that adequate progress is taking place and to refine the curriculum as needed

Teamwork

To ensure that students are engaged, empowered, and excel academically, we must work as a team with students, parents, tutors and schoolteachers. The following is a listing of critical roles in our supplemental education program.

Responsibilities

Student

The most critical member of the team; the student must do the work required in accomplishing his or her goals.

Director of Education

Provides the expertise and sets the path that student, parent and tutor must follow to accomplish goals.

Parents

Implement the non-tutoring aspects of the Director of Education's plan and provide a safe and comfortable environment for tutoring to take place.

Academic Skills Development Tutor

Delivers and implements the Axia Learning curriculum and works to engage and empower our students, so they excel.

School Staff (Teachers, Principals, Counselors, etc.)

Provides Director of Education and parents with critical information to ensure that the tutoring program has the maximum impact in the classroom.

Other Professionals

Psychologists and special education professionals provide us with psychoeducational testing results and recommendations.

Academic Skills Development Tutors

We work with a wide variety of professional Academic Skills Development Tutors who are:

  • Highly accomplished and qualified college students and graduates

  • Comprehensively trained in our proprietary teaching and learning behavior change methodologies so they can transfer their learning skills to their students
